Building our customers stunning garden rooms is incredibly important to us here at eDEN, but ensuring their safety, and the safety of our valued workforce always takes priority, and due to this we have had to make certain adaptions during COVID-19 to get or client’s projects built in the safest way possible
This multi-functional office and family garden room in Streatham, London is a great example of a project where we had to adapt with coronavirus restrictions. Our clients first enquired in February 2019 and, after some time considering and planning, placed their order with us in January 2020. The build was scheduled for March, but unfortunately coincided with the UK lockdown. As the property had no side access and we had to bring materials through the house, we delayed the build to keep everyone safe. In fact, we ended up delaying the build twice for this same reason, and eventually were able to complete the build in the Summer. Since it was necessary for our team to have access through the house, we worked whilst the family were not at home, and of course adhered to all procedures by wearing face masks and regularly sanitising hands and surfaces.
The site that we were to build the new garden room on had an existing shed and overgrown garden area which needed clearing. To the front of the garden was some newly laid artificial grass which the customer wanted to keep. The artificial grass was rolled back to protect it during the build process, and laid back in place once the build was complete.
eDEN installed the end-to-end build including foundations in this 4.8 x 3m multi-use garden room, which features a shed store to left elevation and a set of sliding doors looking out onto the garden. As the garden room was built close to a boundary, fire retardant panels were installed on all boundary-facing elevations in order to comply with building regs.
