What do you do when you need a home gym, a music room and a changing area for your outdoor pool? Call on eDEN Garden Rooms of course! Our recent client, Rebecca, approached eDEN for help designing and building a practical and stylish space outside of the home that her family could use for their many hobbies. Having already explored the option of extending the house, Rebecca had a clear vision in mind for a natural wood outbuilding, and felt that the signature eDEN aesthetic would enhance the area beside their existing outdoor heated pool, whilst making it more practical to use year-round.
As well as a cosy changing area for the nearby heated pool (eliminating the dreaded drippy run across the garden), Rebecca had plans to incorporate space for a home gym, and a music room for her son’s drum kit, conveniently far away from the main house! With a large, expansive garden which boasts lovely countryside views, it was a wonderful brief for the eDEN team to get our teeth into, and so we set to work designing Rebecca’s dream garden room space.
Layout and access were two very important features to consider in this 7.5 x 4m garden room, and our team designed partition walls and doors accordingly to enhance the space. It was important that the changing room section had a separate side door to prevent wet feet from trapsing through the main gym room. The changing room sits in the back right hand corner of the studio, with a single aluminium door for pool access, creating a handy area for hanging swimwear and towels after a dip. Whilst the gym and music room were intended to be separate spaces, enjoying their own access via French aluminium doors, we also included a sliding partition door between the two rooms, so the garden room could be opened up into a larger multi-use space if ever needed.
Rebecca told us “I can exercise whilst my son plays the drums next door! It’s great as there is no one around, so we don’t have to worry about disturbing the neighbours with our noise. As well as a music room, he also plans to use it as a gaming room, so I’m sure it will transform into a teenager’s den in no time!”
To make the most of the beautiful garden scenery, an additional set of floor-to-ceiling windows were installed alongside the main set of gym French doors, creating a lovely panoramic view for home workouts.
Although the bespoke garden room will be predominantly used as a music and exercise space, set next to the inviting pool it is sure to become a fantastic social area in the summer. Rebecca explained “my husband is already talking about getting a bar in there!”
