From the very complex to the super simple, the team here at eDEN Garden Rooms can turn their hand to almost any brief thrown at us. And this classic and compact teen den in Milton Keynes is a lovely example of a very straight forward brief, that we were able to complete with plenty of speed!
This client came to us wanting a space for their teens to be able to socialise and play computer games away from the main family home (but still close enough for parents to be able to keep a watchful eye!). We helped to guide this family to their perfect 4 x 3m garden room design; a little larger than they had originally requested, but with a little more room to fit in extra bodies if necessary. We also discussed with them the position of the garden room and agreed that the original location they had in mind would need a lot of groundwork to remove trees, shrubs and earth, so we happily changed the drawings to locate the garden room on the other side of the garden, where less work and preparations would be required.
As this project was within permitted development rights, no planning permission was needed. Securing their booking in January, they decided to wait until April to build in order to fit around family holidays and other garden work they had planned, so we were able to order the materials and book the build slot well in advance.
The customer’s garden had plenty of side access for ease of build, and, coupled with the simplicity of the room and the advanced booking, our total build time on site was just seven days to completion over a two-week period (beating our own estimated programme, to the client’s delight!).
On completion, the client (and their teenage children) were thrilled with their new space and were very pleased that they decided to go a little bigger on the size, as advised by eDEN. Now that summer is here, they’re getting plenty of use out of their new garden room, which will continue into the winter months, and for many years to come.
